LL Fiat77

About

LL Fiat77 operates from a geometric skeleton with perfectly circular 'o' forms and mathematically constructed letterforms, but abandons the typical refinements of commercial geometric faces in favor of raw, systematic boldness. The contrast is completely eliminated—every stroke maintains uniform thickness throughout, creating an uncompromising monoline texture that feels more like technical drawing than typography. Its apertures remain moderately open despite the geometric construction, and the x-height runs tall relative to the cap height, giving it a sturdy, workmanlike presence. This is geometric modernism stripped of elegance—where Futura pursued optical perfection, Fiat77 embraces mechanical brutalism. The lack of italics and apparent single-weight offering positions it squarely as a display weapon rather than a text system. It excels when you need geometric authority without the sophistication baggage of classic modernist faces, but its uniform heaviness and limited range make it unsuitable for any sustained reading or complex hierarchical work.
