Plantin

Plantin is a distinguished old-style serif typeface originally created by Frank Hinman Pierpont at Monotype in 1913, based on 16th-century types attributed to Robert Granjon. It features moderate stroke contrast with slightly condensed proportions and robust character construction that made it ideal for metal typesetting. The typeface exhibits characteristic old-style numerals, generous x-height, and bracketed serifs with a warm, scholarly presence. Plantin's sturdy build and excellent legibility at small sizes distinguished it from more delicate Renaissance revivals, making it a workhorse face for book publishing throughout the 20th century.
