AF Stelios

About

AF Stelios operates from a geometric skeleton with constructed circular forms and systematic proportions, creating the clean modernist foundation typical of the geometric tradition. However, its flesh departs from pure geometry through subtle humanist adjustments—slightly condensed letterforms, optically corrected curves, and a relatively generous x-height that prioritizes readability over mathematical purity. The apertures remain moderately open, and terminals are cut clean and perpendicular, maintaining the rational clarity that defines contemporary grotesks. This is Sharptype's attempt to thread the needle between geometric precision and practical utility, drawing from the Futura lineage but softened for contemporary digital applications. The face excels in environments where clean, systematic typography is needed without the coldness of pure geometric construction, though its lack of italics severely limits its hierarchical range. Its personality lands somewhere between corporate neutrality and accessible modernism—confident without being aggressive, systematic without being rigid.
