Interlope

About

Interlope follows a geometric form model with constructed circular 'o' forms and systematic letter proportions that prioritize mathematical consistency over calligraphic warmth. The typeface exhibits low stroke contrast with nearly uniform line weights throughout, creating an even typographic color that reads as neutral and systematic. Its geometric skeleton reveals itself in the circular counters of 'b', 'd', 'p', 'q' and the consistent horizontal stress across all letterforms. While the geometric construction gives Interlope a clean, contemporary appearance, this same rigidity can feel cold and mechanical when used extensively in body text. The face belongs to the neo-grotesque tradition but with a more overtly geometric sensibility than classics like Helvetica. Interlope excels in environments requiring neutral authority—corporate communications, technical documentation, or digital interfaces where personality should not interfere with information delivery. However, its constructed nature and lack of humanist warmth make it less suitable for narrative text or brands seeking approachability.
